Washington Week: The GOP’s Inside Dysfunction

On Wednesday, former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger handed away on the age of 100. Because the nation remembers the previous statesman’s sophisticated legacy, his fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill are working to beat their inside dysfunction: Within the Home, Republican Consultant George Santos of New York was expelled from Congress in a uncommon bipartisan vote for ethics violations. And within the Senate, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama tried to reassure colleagues that his monthslong blockade of Pentagon nominations will finish quickly.

All of this comes as former President Donald Trump continues to steer in polls of Republican and evangelical voters six weeks earlier than the Iowa caucuses.
