Top Trending Summer-Inspired Baby Names Parents Love

Did you know that summertime is a popular time for baby births in the United States? August specifically is when most babies are born each year, and July is right behind it. So, it makes sense for parents to give their kids summer baby names every year. 

Whether they are beach-, flower-, or nature-inspired, there are a ton of summer names to choose from.

If you need a little more help narrowing it down, Hennessey Digital, a digital marketing agency, compiled a list of the top trending baby names related to summer with help from data from the Social Security Administration (SSA). 

“Often parents opt for unique names, as well as names that are trending,” Jason Hennessey, CEO of Hennessey Digital, tells Parents. “For parents who are expecting this summer, we want this research to educate and inspire them to opt for a name that is linked to the beauty of summer.”

Here are the top 20 trending summer baby names it found, plus why they are reminiscent of the season.

• Dylan: Son of the sea 
• Lily: The flower which typically blooms in summer
• Parker: Means park keeper and outdoor parks are popular in summer
• Aurora: Dawn (This one can also be Disney-related)
• Isla: Island
• Eliana: Related to the Greek word helios which means sun
• Kai: Sea in Hawaiin
• River: Where many head during the warmer months
• Ryder: Riding bikes is popular in the summertime
• Iris: She’s the Greek goddess of the rainbow but many Irises also bloom in the summertime
• Lucia: Comes from the Latin word Lux which means light 
• Daisy: Means day’s eye but Daisies also bloom in summer
• Rose: Another flower which remains in bloom during the warm months
• Summer: This one is self-explanatory 
• Olive: These trees bear fruit in the summer
• Jasmine: You can also catch these flowers in summer 
• Phoebe: Another name with Greek origin that means shining 
• Dahlia: These flowers bloom in midsummer
• Cyrus: This has Persian roots and means sun
• Poppy: This means red flower in Latin and you’ll also catch these during the summer

All of these names are also very popular among Americans, appearing on the SSA’s top 1,000 baby names list. Several were also in the top 100 in 2023, including Dylan, Lily, Parker, Aurora, Isla, Eliana, Kai, and Iris.
