The One Thing Carolyn Bessette Kennedy Never Wore in Public

Throughout her life, and decades after her untimely death, John F. Kennedy Jr’s wife Carolyn Bessette has remained iconic. People loved her charm, her mystique, and obviously, her fashion that influenced so many after her death. She was the Queen of minimalism, of rocking simple and effective looks that shook the street style game.

In Sunita Kumar’s 2023 book CBK: Caroline Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion, she dissected so many of Bessette’s looks. She looked into what made them iconic, what Bessette did to perfect the look, and even one style choice Bessette made that secured her icon status.

While talking about her book with People, Kumar talked about the detail in Bessette’s looks that fans may have missed. If you look closely, you’ll see a pattern, or lack thereof of a pattern: she never wore logos or prints.

Nair told the outlet that logos would retract from her timeless look, saying, “Not many brands did that and if they did, she would remove them.”

She added, “It’s an indication of her confidence as a woman — she didn’t need a label that is visibly identifiable on her clothing to define who she was and was a crutch to support her style. There is a discipline to her approach and not wearing logos was one of them.”

Not only that, but Bessette was reportedly in love with all things vintage. Per the New York Post, friends of Bessette claimed she adored vintage clothing, opting for “Levi’s to Louis Vuitton,” and allegedly scoured all the thrift stores for the perfect looks. (And yes, she’d more than likely remove the logos to create her timeless looks!)
